The Richters Flower. Wedding photographer and videographer in Europe.

Alternative London Wedding Photographer

London weddings unfold fast, with moments happening between people rather than for the camera. Our photography is documentary-style — candid, unobtrusive, and focused on representing people as themselves: relaxed, present and recognisable, allowing the atmosphere of the day to form naturally around the people within it rather than through direction or staging.

We document London weddings using a mix of digital, 35mm and medium format film, capturing how the day moves through venues, streets and gatherings, shaped by the energy and character of those present as events unfold naturally from one moment to the next.

Selected Works

Wedding At Chelsea Old Town Hall On Film

First the civil ceremony at Chelsea Old Town Hall , the reception at Nomad Hotel London, in the heart of Covent Garden.

“You were the most important decision of the whole wedding, as you know I wasn’t even going to have photographers as I hate staged and posed stuff. Everything is beyond words. Thank you thank you – the way you have captured the fun and the vibrancy of the day has surpassed our expectations and you have reminded us of all the small details we had forgotten in the have of the wedding”

Sarah Campbell Gordon

Wedding In Hackney On 35 mm And Medium Format

Hackney London alternative wedding photographer.

First the civil ceremony at Hackney Town Hall , the reception at Clapton Country Club, a unique East London venue half urban half glamorous.

“We weren’t even going to bother booking a videographer for our wedding, finding something a little bit cringe about most wedding videos we’ve seen (no offence to anyone here!!). But then we stumbled across The Richters instagram page, and genuinely felt beyond captivated by their work. It was apparent they don’t create run of the mill wedding content, it’s actual ART, capturing the genuine moment, nothing forced or contrived.!”

Wedding At Assylum Chapel On Film

The civil ceremony at the amazing Asylum Chapel in Peckham, the reception at One Friendly Place,  a former spice warhouse in Deptford, London.

“I think we’d be a perfect match – me and groom-to-be Elliott are a bit mad and we just like to have fun and most importantly we’re not looking for a cookie-cutter cheesy wedding film, everything in your portfolio is how I imagine our wedding to be captured. The little moments catching people off guard being themselves completely, the emotions, the fun and overall energy of the guests. A mixture of analogue & digital would be amaazing – the analogue films you’ve shot are insane.”

U.K. Weddings

Based in Europe and regularly working as a London wedding photographer, coverage extends across the UK and internationally. We follow the same documentary and film-focused approach. Every location, same philosophy: reality over staging. We have photographed weddings in Wiltshire, West Sussex or Essex.

“THE RICHTERS ARE THE BEST!!! Absolutely smashed it out the park, we are over the moon, the images are so perfect , everything I wanted and more! Not only were the images perfect but the vibe they brought to the wedding was immaculate, two such loving and warm-hearted people”.

“The Richters were the perfect combination of incredible company and immense talent, they are genuine artists and went above and beyond to deliver the coolest photography and videography, capturing our day so beautifully. Nothing felt staged – everything was natural, effortless, and completely true to us. I really feel so lucky to have found them; they completely understood our vibe and were just as in love with my grandmother’s house as I am. They cared deeply about our day, and it shows throughout every photograph taken. They aren’t traditional wedding photographers, and that’s exactly why we loved them.“.

“Are you searching for a wedding photographer who shows up, takes great photos, and hands them over? If so, The Richters are NOT for you! With The Richters, it’s never just about the job. You get so much more than that; you get passion, vision, warmth, and connection . They bring hugs, laughter, and even tears of joy. I lost count of how many guests thought The Richters were members of our family! ”

Documentary Film Wedding Photography In London

Many weddings today are photographed digitally, often with film aesthetics added afterwards. Our work remains rooted in analogue photography itself, using 35mm and medium format film alongside digital capture when appropriate, allowing colour, texture and light to exist as they are recorded rather than simulated.

Working with film naturally encourages a quieter, observational way of photographing, where moments are anticipated rather than constructed and people remain at ease within the flow of the day.

35 MM Film Wedding Photographer London

35mm film allows us to move instinctively with the pace of a London wedding day, working with different cameras — from manual systems such as the Canon A-1 to compact point-and-shoot cameras — depending on the moment. A range of film stocks, including Kodak Portra and CineStill, are used according to light and location, introducing natural variations in texture, colour and mood as the day unfolds.

Medium Format Wedding Photographer London

Medium format film introduces a quieter and more deliberate tempo to the day, often reserved for portraits and reflective moments within a New York wedding. The larger negative brings a distinctive depth, nuanced colour, and tonal richness often associated with editorial imagery, while still preserving a natural, unforced presence in front of the camera. At times we also embrace a more experimental texture, using cameras such as the Rolleiflex 3.5F or the Holga 120N to introduce subtle imperfections and movement. For black and white portraits we frequently rely on Ilford Delta 3200, a film valued for its expressive grain and character, particularly in the dimmer interiors and evening light that define many New York celebrations.

Super 8 Wedding Videographer London

Super 8 film captures motion in a way that feels closer to memory than traditional video, recording fragments of the day — movement, gestures and atmosphere — with a tactile, timeless quality. We often combine Super 8 film  with digital footage to build a more documentary-led narrative, incorporating vows, speeches and emotional moments rather than creating a purely music-driven film. This approach keeps a personal, home-movie feeling, sometimes complemented with VHS textures to reinforce that sense of lived memory.

About Us

Our approach to weddings is shaped by a broader photographic practice developed beyond the wedding industry. Alongside documenting celebrations, our work has been exhibited in galleries, published internationally and presented through talks and conferences focused on documentary photography and visual storytelling.

This ongoing personal and editorial work continues to influence how we photograph weddings — approaching them less as staged events and more as lived experiences, where people, relationships and atmosphere remain central to the images produced.

F.A.Q

Yes. We photograph weddings in London throughout the year and return to work across the city and wider UK. Familiarity with multi-venue timelines, registry offices and changing light conditions forms a regular part of our workflow.

Travel to London is planned as part of the booking process and confirmed in advance. Any travel or accommodation requirements are discussed transparently before confirmation so there are no unexpected costs. Anyway we will make it easy for you.

Our work follows a documentary approach, observing events as they naturally unfold rather than directing or staging moments. Guidance is minimal so people remain comfortable and recognisable within the photographs.

We don’t work by the hour, but by the story. We understand that documenting takes time and that not all weddings express emotions and energy in the same way. We stay until we feel everything has been properly captured. Because we truly mingle with the guests and enjoy your experience as if we were one of them, it’s a real pleasure to be there. In any case, we’re there for 10-12 hours.

Most of the couples feel this way. We work hard on building a connection to become invisible, creating an intimate environment where you feel relaxed rather than creating tension. There are only two of us working, and our team is kept to a minimum to be as unobtrusive as possible. This is highly valued by our couples.

The final number varies depending on coverage length and the structure of the wedding day, with edited images selected to represent the full narrative rather than every frame captured. But at least 500 photographs.

People often describe our work as vibrant, honest, emotional, and authentic. Shooting on film adds texture and depth, and we keep editing minimal so the images feel natural rather than overly polished.

For that reason, our work often resonates with people connected to film, design, architecture, music, or the arts, people who care about atmosphere, light, and visual culture.

Many of the weddings we photograph lean toward what’s often described as quiet luxury: thoughtful spaces, beautiful materials, and a sense of elegance that doesn’t need to announce itself. Film tends to sit naturally in that world.
