Documentary Wedding Photographer Berlin

We are an artistic studio based in Berlin, our home city, where weddings unfold between industrial venues in Kreuzberg and Neukölln and quieter streets in Prenzlauer Berg or Charlottenburg. Our work follows a documentary style, observing the day as it unfolds rather than staging it. Combining digital photography with 35mm and medium format film, we create images with texture, depth, and emotional weight that reflect the real atmosphere of the moment. Each wedding is approached from scratch, shaped by trust, connection, and the unpredictable energy of the day.

35mm Film Wedding Photographer Berlin

Film photography is an important part of our visual language, but the foundation of our work is documentary wedding photography. As a documentary wedding photographer in Berlin, the focus is always on observing the day as it unfolds rather than directing it.

Alongside digital capture, we often work with 35mm and medium format film to introduce texture, grain, and a more tactile quality to the images. Some couples choose a hybrid approach mixing digital and film, while others prefer to document the entire wedding on analog formats.

Film is not used as a stylistic effect but as a narrative tool. Its slower process encourages attention and produces photographs with subtle colour shifts, soft edges, and an atmosphere that feels natural rather than polished.

How We Work

For us, connection comes first. Blending in as just another guest allows us to feel the rhythm of the day from the inside and document it with honesty. We stay where you stay, move with your circle, and live the celebration alongside you rather than observing from a distance. Photographing a wedding as if it were a friend’s is what makes the cameras disappear and the images feel alive, natural and true.

Wedding Photographer And Videographer Studio

We are a studio of wedding photographer and videographer, offering photography and wedding videos (films) as a narrative continuum that creates a seamless visual story uniting stills and motion. Working with an alternative documentary approach, we keep our equipment to the bare minimum so we can stay unobtrusive, protect the intimacy of the moment, and move close without disrupting what’s happening. From the emotional peaks of vows and speeches, we shape a story that feels honest and meaningful. By blending Super 8, VHS, and digital, we craft cinematic narratives with texture, presence, and emotional weight.

About Us

We’re Mónica and PoL — The Richters — a photographer and filmmaker duo working at the intersection of documentary, film, and art. For over 15 years, we’ve told stories through an honest, emotional, and deeply personal lens, paying attention to the quiet, intimate moments that usually pass unnoticed.

We intentionally limit our work to around 10 weddings each season to keep every project close, focused, and meaningful. Our passion for this craft naturally extends beyond weddings into personal and artistic projects, which have led to exhibitions and international recognition.

Alongside our practice, we lecture, give conferences, and lead workshops for fellow professionals around the world, sharing our approach and contributing to the wider photographic and filmmaking community. For us, storytelling is always grounded in reality — direct, human, and enduring.

F.A.Q

Yes, in fact we work better as a team and what you get is even more emotional and powerful since we share a complementary vision.

Yes. We choose them not because a trend but because a way enhance the narrative, adding textures that empower the experience. Since I studied photography in the university I used analogue. 25 years using film photography.

We live in Berlin but there is no problem if we need to go to Branderburg. We will rent probably a Miles. Don´t worry we sort it out for you.

We don’t work by the hour, but by the story. We understand that documenting takes time and that not all weddings express emotions and energy in the same way. We stay until we feel everything has been properly captured. Because we truly mingle with the guests and enjoy your experience as if we were one of them, it’s a real pleasure to be there. In any case, we’re there for 10-12 hours.

Our work is based on connection; it’s the only way to capture those moments that feel so alive and real. First, we’ll talk, and you can tell us about yourselves and your wedding.  Let´s grab a drink in Kreuzkölln!. Then, when we decide to move forward together, we’ll sign a contract and you’ll make a deposit. Contact us!.

We essentially have two packages. Both contain video and photographs. The difference lies in the video length . Package one would be a 4-5 minute trailer plus approximately 500 photos (digital or film). The “biggest one”  would be a video of about 12 minutes or more. All them include (35mm film, Super 8, VHS)

For us, choosing a wedding photographer and videographer is about connection.

-First and foremost, you obviously have to like their style, like you literally love the style.  Your photos are a legacy, a legacy that speaks of you. You just want editorial style pictures (like you are in a magazine) or you want important and meaningful pictures? (Candid and real).

–Check reviews: Specially if they have them in google maps.

–Meet in person or have a call when in other country: This is where the connection starts.

–Choose a package: Know what the differences are with every option.

–Consider experience: not only the years but the variety, the fact that they have known how to do a good job in any situation.
